My Weekend; Cute Boys and Books

Howdy folks!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  Mine was pretty busy.

I worked for a few hours on Saturday.

Babysat the nephews on Sunday with the husband.

Noah and Grayson

That's it really.  I guess I lied when I said it was busy, but it sure felt busy.

Especially when you get up to babysit at 6:30am on a Sunday morning.

But I was able to finish two books this weekend.

Cinderella and the Sheikh and Unveiled.

Alright, Unveiled was more like a short story, but it was still great.

And I started Wither this morning, which I'm really excited about.

That was pretty much my weekend.

So, how was your weekend?

Eat. Watch. Read. Sleep.

I've had a great weekend... and it's not even over yet!

On Saturday, we went to roller derby with Jenny and her husband.  She brought me one of her adorable bracelets that she makes for her Etsy shop that I've had my eye on.  Then afterward we went to Denny's for dinner and we sat there chatting until about 12:30am.  It was a great time.

Before roller derby though, we went to Target so I could look for a reading pillow that I found online.  Luckily I was able to find it.  It's so amazing.

On Sunday, I was able to convince Hubs to go with me to Bookmans.  My dad gave me $54 worth of store credit so I wanted to see if there was anything I wanted.  I didn't find a book, but I did find this adorable onesie that I've had my eye on for awhile.

Year of Hope purchase.

As for the rest of the weekend, I've been a lazy bum.  I've been in bed trying to catch up on Bones.  I'm on the current season and will hopefully be caught up by tomorrow.  Then I need to figure out what I'm going to watch next.  I have Greek on my queue.  But what do you recommend?

Watching all this TV is really hindering my reading, though.  It's really setting me back from reaching my goal for the year.  Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I took a break from watching so much on Netflix so I can get back to reading.

I don't have work tomorrow as it is Presidents Day.  So that means more lounging around in bed watching Bones and reading Odd Thomas while using my new red reading pillow.

How's your weekend been so far?  Do you get tomorrow off for Presidents Day?

It's Friday!

I'm so excited it's Friday, but I'd much rather it be Saturday.  Saturday's are my favorite because you can sleep in and you don't have to go to work the next day.

But this weekend is a three day weekend, which is perfect!  I plan on watching Bones, reading my book, going to see roller derby with Hubs and possibly meeting up with Paisley Blooms.

All in all, it's going to be a relaxing weekend.  Just what the doctor ordered. ;)

What are your plans?

1. Have you worn the same outfit more than one day in a row?

Probably when I was younger, but not anytime recently.  My clothes stretch out when I wear them and I hate wearing clothes when they're streched out.  The only things that I wear would wear more than once before washing are jackets, cardigans and pajamas.  Other than that, if it's been worn then I wash it.

2. If you had to choose any LARGE city to live in, which would it be?

I live in a large city and it's one that I'm familiar with.  So I pick Phoenix.

3. Fly or drive with the kids on vacation?

I don't have kids, but we don't take our dogs with us.  And I don't really like leaving them home alone.  It'd prefer someone comes to watch them.  So we haven't gone on vacation lately.  Plus we really don't have the extra funds.

4. What is your idea of "spring cleaning"?

Um... going through your stuff and getting rid of what you don't use.  I did that when we packed to move and when we unpacked after we moved, so I think I've got spring cleaning taken care of for this year.

5. What is the best book you have ever read?

The best book I've ever read... I honestly don't know.  I really liked A Child Called "It".  But off the top of my head I can't think of the best book ever.

Bye Bye Weekend, Hello Monday

I can't believe the weekend is already over.  They are was too quick.

I missed work today because I feel a cold coming on so I took today off to try to get some rest so I could nip this thing in the bud.  It really seems to be helping.  I took a nap earlier and that seemed to help, except for the gnarly headache I woke up with.  But it's gone now with the help of some Excedrin.

This weekend we went to Kohl's since one of Hubs new co-worker's gave him a 20% friends and family pass for this weekend.  We went looking for a specific Christmas gift with no luck.  Instead we ended up picking up a dog bed for a steal!

How was your weekend?

_____________________________________________

1. How do you order your steak?

Medium well.  I don't like there to be any pink, but when I order it medium well it's really crispy and I don't like it like that.

2. Are you superstitious about anything?

I don't think so.  I'd really have to think about that.

3. Who is your best friend (not including your spouse)?

Sadly, I don't have one of those.  Hubs is my only best friend.

4. When is the last time your wore a dress (for the guys...a suit)?

I wore a dress last Monday at work.  Only because I had recently shaved my legs to wear a dress for my company's holiday party.  I'm normally not one to wear dresses.

5. Do you have any trips scheduled?

Not yet.  Thinking about a meet up in Vegas with The Honey B in March. Wanna join?

(1) Who is your favorite actor?

My favorite actress is Kristen Bell.

(2) Do you collect anything?

Shot glasses.  I have lots of them!

(3) What's the biggest turn off in someone of the opposite sex?

Smoking, yuck!

(4) If you HAD to change your first name, what would you change it to and why?

When I was little I asked my mom if I could change my name to Rebecca.  I have no idea why, but now I know I wouldn't want that to be my name, it doesn't fit me.

(5) What virtue is better: forgiveness or justice?

That depends on whatever the situation is.

The Weekend Is Over

Sadly, today was the last day before I go back to work after nine days off.  It's going to be tough.  I imagine there will be lots of freaking out and stressing about all the work I've fallen behind on.  I'll need to remember to just breathe.

Over my nine day weekend I didn't get many of the things done that I wanted.  Like, finishing my book.  I think I might have read a total of 15 pages the entire time.  Leaving me with 157 unread pages.

We did go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and take a trip out to the outlet malls.  We were able to buy Hubs a pair of Vans and a cute toy guitar for my nephew for Christmas.  We also hung out with the in-law's a lot.  We made peanut butter pies with them the day before Thanksgiving.  I may share that recipe on here sometime because they're so delicious.  It's a family recipe!

I also watched a ridiculous amount of television shows.  I was able to finish all four seasons of Skins and I'm working on finishing the fourth season of Mad Men.

Then there was Thanksgiving which was a very busy day for Hubs and I.  But it was nice to spend so much time with family.

Hubs starts his new job on Wednesday, which is something we're looking forward to.  This week and next are his training day which have miserable hours that I'm not looking forward to, but at least he'll be getting paid for it.  I'm hoping all goes well for him and that he'll enjoy it.

All in all it was a great time off, even if I didn't get to do everything I wanted, but I'm not looking forward to the 5:45am alarm in the morning.

Tomorrow I'm going to want one of these.

So tell me, how was your Thanksgiving weekend?

Hooray

That means after today I have nine days off. NINE!

How exciting is that?

This might just be the break from work that I was needing.  I'm hoping to use this time for lost of reading, brainstorming for my blog and maybe even a drive up north with Hubs so we can take some pretty pictures!

Now it's time for Five Question Friday...

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

I'm not a big fan of most Christmas songs, honestly.  They always get in your head and stay there for days!  I don't like any song that much.

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?

It depends on the night, but usually we sleep on opposite sides of the bed.  When we cuddle either one or both of us ends up not sleeping very well.  Most of the time he isn't even able to fall asleep if we are cuddling.

3. Have you ever had surgery?

No, thank goodness.  The worst thing I've had is stitches on my forehead.

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

A couple days before Christmas.  Every year I'll say I'll get better and be done before December, but that never happens.  I suck at shopping for people.  Honestly, just tell me what you want and that's what I'll get.

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

A new car.  It doesn't have to be NEW new.  Just new to us.  A bought and paid for car.  We really loathe our car payments.

Oh How I Wish It Was Still The Weekend

Friday:

Hubs worked.  It was lonely.  I watched the first four episodes of the current season of Life Unexpected.  Hubs finally got home around 10:30.  It was a long night without him.  My parents dogs bark at everything and it freaks me out.  We watched some Mad Men and hit the hay.

Saturday:

Woke up super early (5am).  Hubs has been interested in hunting lately so we went out with his dad and sister to watch his dad quail hunt.  Which we only saw one the entire time and that was when we were driving out to a location to actually hunt at.  We got some good hiking time in though.

Cute heart shaped cactus we saw while walking around.

After hunting we went to a different location to do some shooting.  I finally got to shoot the two new guns my dad gave me.  He gave me a SIG P6 (P225) and my grandpa's Wingmaster 870, and I love both of them.  Hubs wanted me to shoot his shotgun, but I hated it.

My FIL is a thug.  Beer in one hand, gun in the other.

Saturday I also went to work for a few hours, which was lame.  But I wanted to make up some time from me missing work on Wednesday.

Sunday:

Lazy day!  We sat around all day and watched Mad Men.  I just wish I could have taken a nap though.  That would have made the day perfect.

Monday:

I worked.  But I took some time out to have lunch with two lovely ladies.  Jenny from Among the Blossoms and Brittany from The Goodyear Family.  We went to IHOP and our server looks like Snoop Dogg and he kept calling all of us "sweetheart".  And told us multiple times that we could get "whatever we want".  Only slightly creepy.  But we had a tottally fun time!

How was your weekend?

Weekend Update

This weekend we didn't do much.  We had an eye appointment Saturday afternoon.  He was a very nice guy.  I got some trial contacts, which I'm wearing right now.  I look so different.  I have worn contacts in almost two years.

My parents came over later on Saturday to take a look at our apartment since it's nearing completion.  I will put some pictures up soon!  Promise!

The rest of Saturday was pretty relaxing.

Sunday we went over to my parents house to pick up some guns that we'd talked about taking over to Hubs gunsmith.  Also my nephew was supposed to be there so it was a good excuse to go see him.

We ate lunch, visited with my brother who stopped by to say hello, went swimming and hung out.  It was a pretty relaxing Sunday.  Hubs even took me out for Mexican food for dinner!  It was delicious.  We talked about tattoos that we want to get and have decided to start saving up for some!

And now I leave you with some adorableness...

What a stud!

I stole this one from my SIL's Facebook. He's so cute!

How was your weekend?

A Bit of an Update

Lately I've just been doing meme's.  I just don't feel like I have much to actually write about.  I wake up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, read or watch television, and sleep.  Then I wake up and do it all over again.  No one wants to hear about that boring stuff.

Hubs is still looking for a job.  He currently temporarily employed by my work.  He's been helping us pack and move.  This weekend my office was moved from the 18th and 19th floors to the newly renovated 14th and 15th floors.  That's probably the most exciting thing going on in my life.  It's been wonderful going to work with Hubs and seeing him around the office.

He hasn't heard from anyone he's emailed.  But we recently asked my boss, a very high up attorney, if he could pass Hubs resume along to some people and he did.  Which is great, so we're hoping to get a hit off of that.

Hubs and I were going to go into the office today to get my desk set up and help other people.  But when we got up I checked my work emails and found out we couldn't go down there until after 2:00 pm, which just seemed like a waste.

So, instead we went to the movies.  We saw Grown Ups.

Grown Ups was hilarious.  It's been a long time since we went to the movies to see a funny movie.  I love Kevin James and Adam Sandler.  It was great to see Chris Rock in something other than stand up and his character was unlike anything I've ever seen him do, which was great.  Definitely recommend it.

Afterwards, we came home and decided officially not to go into work.  So we got comfy and got into bed to hang out for the rest of the day.

So I took this time to finally add some books to Paperback Swap.  Feel free to add me as a friend.  Or you could even request some books for me.

I'm hoping to get into a habit of writing regularly, but inspiration hasn't been hitting recently.  Do you have any tips on how to keep your writing strong and going day to day?  Some days I don't feel like I'm cut out to do this.  I don't have an exciting life to blog about everyday.  That's why I do meme's.

Where do you find inspiration?

Weekend Update!

  • Saturday we went to my parents house to see my nephew, Grayson, since my mom was babysitting him.  When we got there though he was napping again.  So we watched television for about an hour or so.
  • It was time for Grayson to get up since he hadn't even had lunch yet.  So my mom fed him some lunch. It took him awhile to get used to me since it had been about a month since he last saw me.  But he finally did.  I got lots of smiles out of him which were incredibly adorable.
Grayson on the verge of a smile.

  • After lunch, my mom decided we should take Grayson swimming.  I'll have my mom email the pictures I took of him on her camera.  Her camera died before she could get a shot of me holding him.  He held onto my the entire time we were swimming.  I would give him to my dad and he would want to come right back to me.  Super cute!
  • On Sunday I woke up and made cookies!  I had been craving them since Thursday night.
  • I finally bought some new bras from Lane Bryant.  I got four because they were buy one get one free.  But they are still way too expensive!
  • I decided I wanted to paint my nails.  They've been super boring because I haven't wanted to go spend a fortune to have someone paint them.

I got Hubs to help with the toes. ;)
  • Not quite the weekend, but today Hubs received a package from his Grandpa, "Eagle Bill".  Hubs had received a call from his Grandpa last week asking him if he wanted a pair of his old cowboy boots from when he was a little boy, so Hubs said sure.  His Grandpa said he would also send some photos.  (Just to give you an idea, these boots are smaller then the palm of my hand.)  He mailed these all the way from Alaska.

How cute are these?!

Being with my nephew made me realize how much I really do want kids. My own kids. Making him smile and taking him swimming was amazing. I can't wait to do that with my own children.

How was your weekend?  What did you do?

Holy Sweet Margarita [Weekend Update]

  • Friday we went to my "cousin-in-laws" graduation.  He goes to a Christian school and I wasn't raised religious at all, so I was pretty much bored out of my mind.  This Chaplain spoke for about 45 minutes and I didn't think it was going to end, but it finally did.  CIL's graduating class was 16 people, no where near the size of my graduating class.
  • After the graduation, we went to wedding reception for my MIL's friend.  There was an open bar, which is always good news.  Or potentially bad news.  Hubs had way too much, so I ended up having to drive home.  So I had to stop drinking halfway through my fourth margarita.  At the reception we saw my MIL get really drunk and she danced for like four hours.  Really awkward!

  • The Hubs and I finished watching the third season The IT Crowd on Netflix.  That show is so dumb you can't help but laugh.  It's a British comedy with a random Irish man.  Love it!

  • On Sunday, Hubs parents invited us out to dinner at Top Shelf.  I got to meet one of Hubs uncles and aunts for the first time.  His uncle looks a lot like Stone Cold Steve Austin, except his uncle is like a foot taller.  Top Shelf has amazing margaritas.  Strawberry blended margarita for me please!
  • Hubs bought Red Dead Redemtion earlier this week.  Over the weekend I watched him play it quite a bit and I even gave it a try.  It's quite fun, but I suck at navigating on the Xbox remotes.
How was your weekend? What did you do?

I Lead A Boring Life [Weekend Update]

I realized I haven't really posted in over a week.  I'm not sure why.  I've felt like writing, but when I try nothing worth while even comes out.  So I give up.  What do you do when you have writers block or get into a funk when it comes to your blog?

I should really look at those writing books I purchased from Amazon to help me blog.  [1. No One Cares What You Had for Lunch: 100 Ideas for Your Blog by Margaret Mason and 2. The Write-Brain Workbook: 366 Exercises to Liberate Your Writing by Bonnie Neubauer]

Anyways, back to the weekend.

  • Friday after work, Hubs and I took a 2-3 hour nap then woke up and went to dinner at Marie Callender's.  It wasn't as great as I was hoping.  Plus, I was really craving a grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup.
  • Saturday afternoon was spent on the couch watching eight episodes of The Vampire Diaries.  Um... INSANE!  I really hope it will be back for another season.  I desperately want to know what happens!
  • We went to see the championship game for the Arizona Roller Derby.  It was between the Bad News Beaters and the Brawlarinas.  The Bad News Beaters ended up winning.  [139-109]
  • At the Roller Derby you can buy tickets for drawings that they have.  Well, my dad ended up winning the final drawing.  His gift bag had two shirts, a hat, some stickers, a pin AND a $50 gift card to a tattoo shop.  Awesome!  My dad gave one of the shirts to me and the other shirt and the hat to Hubs.  Thanks, Popsicle!
  • Hubs and I ended up seeing Letters to Juliet on Sunday.  I thought the story was adorable.  But the outfits that they put Amanda Seyfried in were awful, mainly the dresses.  Apparently the clothing department didn't like her.
Those are the highlights.  The rest of the weekend was spent; on the couch watching television, on the computer or sleeping.  We also went to Walmart after the movie, but that's not really important.  We just picked up some milk, cheese and ya know... four bottles of wine.

What did you do this weekend?

I'm An Aunt... Again [Weekend Recap]

  • We went to TGI Friday's on Friday night with Hubs mom, sister, aunt, two cousins, one cousins girlfriend.  One cousin had a baseball game on our side of town earlier.  His aunt bought me a strawberry margarita and Hubs a beer.  (Which is totally unlike her, she doesn't even allow beer in her house during a holiday dinner.)
  • Saturday I was supposed to go to a baby shower, but my brother and SIL invited us over for a BBQ/swim party for my nephew the same time the shower was.
  • We found out that my SIL is pregnant with their second child via FET.
How adorable is this little guy?
Shh... don't tell my SIL I put this on the internet.
She'd kill me. And I'm not even kidding.
  • We went to a roller skating rink on Saturday night with some friend and family, but I was too big of a chicken to actually go out on the rink.  I didn't want to fall on my bum.  Hubs only went around the rink once, so I didn't feel too bad about not going at all.
  • Sunday we spent all day at home; just relaxing and hanging out.  My kind of Sunday.  I did have to do a few household duties, those weren't fun though.
This is Root Beer's idea of relaxing on a Sunday.

How was your weekend?  What did you do?

Bye Bye Weekend

I look forward to the next time I see you, weekend.

  • Friday evening, Hubs took me to get a manicure and pedicure.  I got my nails painted a gorgeous shade of dark purple (for one of my favorite Roller Derby team).  He was cute; he just sat at one of the nail stations and read his book.
  • We met up with two friend on Saturday for a drink and a quick bite to eat at Chili's.
  • Afterwards we went to Roller Derby; my parents actually met up with us.  My two favorite teams are going to the season seven championship on May 15th.
 v.

  • Sunday was supposed to be spent relaxing and lazing around the house, instead we went over to the in laws house to deal with some family issues and do some catching up.
  • There was a surprise in my pool that you'll learn about on Wednesday.  You might have seen my post on Twitter already.
This weekend I'm really looking forward to a pool party for my nine month old nephew.  Also, Hubs and I might go shooting with my parents.  Who knows what will happen!

How was your weekend?  Did you have anything planned for this weekend yet?  Yeah, yeah.  I know it's only Monday. ;)

My Uneventful [But Perfect] Weekend

  • Friday Hubs and I went on a date.  We originally planned to go to Olive Garden, but the wait was 30-35 minutes.  We were pretty hungry already so we went to Garcia's Mexican Restaurant instead.
  • We hung out with a few of Hubs "redneck" friends before dinner.
  • We went to breakfast at Bill Johnson's Big Apple and did some light shopping at Walmart on Saturday morning.
  • We saw my "sister-in law" for a little bit on Saturday night.  I was able to talk to her about trying to conceive without any judgement.  She's expecting a little girl soon.
  • I got to spend some time loving on my fur babies.
Root Beer (via Hubs iPhone)

  • I've been spotting today, but AF isn't due for about five days.  Possibly implantation, so I guess we will see in a few days if AF shows up or if I decide to test.
  • My favorite: relaxing in bed with Hubs on a gorgeous rainy day.

How did you spend your weekend?

Weekend Update!

Baby Shower -- It went alright.  I wasn't a fan of a lot of people there, but I made it through it.  It's getting tougher and tougher to go to baby showers each time.  I would be so much more excited to go and hang out if I had a little one or a little one on the way, but I don't.  So I sit there, fight back tears at time and act like everything it alright.

Roller Derby -- Well you're going to be disappointed with me.  I didn't go talk to Fred on Saturday when we went to see the AZ Roller Derby.  I want intimidated!  It was extremely crowded when we got there and there were so many photographers already.  So I never worked up the cajones.  I'm thinking about emailing Fred and seeing if he wants to meet up some time he's free.

We saw the Bad News Beaters bout against the Brawlerinas.  I didn't have a specific team I was going for, but the Bad News Beaters ended up kicking ass!

v.

Faded hand stamp from the AZ Roller Derby.

The jammer coming around the corner.

Invisible jammer!

See the girl walking right there?  In the red.  I wish I could have gotten a picture for you.  It was priceless.  She had this lacy red top on with a black tiny vest on.  Her little boobs were popping out of it along with her chubby belly. Not cute!  I have more to love, but I tuck it away from the public. Yikes!

After Roller Derby we went out for a drink, which is still a weird concept for me.  We sat at the bar and I wasn't carded -- two firsts!  I had a Sex on the Beach; I didn't think it was that great.  But it definitely did the job.  I'm a lightweight since I never drink.  I gotta get ready for Vegas though.  Yes! I'm going to Vegas!

BBQ for my Brother's Birthday -- It was pretty laid back; it was just family.  The past few weren't that laid back.  My brother would have his Police friends over and they'd have one too many beers and they were quite humorous.  But Sunday my SIL and nephew were sick, so it was just a calm night.

But I got to see this little booger!
He likes to eat his books, rather than read them.

And this one of Root Beer because I thought she was laying funny.

Overall, it was a nice week.  A bit busy, but nice.  How was yours?

*My appologies for the awful quality photos.  I only used my iPhone and it doesn't have a quick shutter.  For the Roller Derby I didn't really have a time to use my better camera.  We couldn't get close enough.

Action Packed Weekend

Well, this weekend Hubs and I have a bunch of plans.  This is totally a change for us!  We are the stay at home watching movies on the couch/in bed couple.  Which is totally okay with me!

Friday: Free day!  So we will probably just sit around the house.  I want to get some reading and blogging I'd like to do!

Saturday: At 1pm we have a baby shower for a very close family friend; not sure how long that will last.  Around 7pm, I really want to go to the Roller Derby event.  Possibly meet up with Fred, see if I can get involved.  [Hopefully I can get up the cajones to talk to him.]

Sunday: BBQ for my Brother's birthday around 5:30p.  We have plenty of down time in the morning.  I'm thinking of using the time to actually clean; it's been awhile!

I plan on bring my camera with me everywhere this weekend.  I really wish I had my fancy new camera bag I ordered from Etsy, but I must be patient.  So look forward to some pictures from the weekend!

What do you have planned for the weekend?
