So today was the birthday party for my nephews. They were born 2 years and a week apart so
they get to share birthday parties. It works out! Grayson is now 3
(well his birthday is really on the 30th) and Noah just turned 1 today!
Anyways, that wasn't the point of this post.
The point was that I'm pregnant. You all
knew that. But what I mean is that I was pregnant at a family gathering and that's a completely new experience.
I spent so many family gatherings being the only woman that wasn't
pregnant or didn't already have a child. And I was envious of all the other women so being on the other side of things is just so new.
I actually had people come up to me and ask how I'm doing. And ask how Andrew is doing. And ask if we have a name picked.
These parties aren't huge, by any means, but it's so awesome to be able to join in on the baby excitement. I'm very thankful!
Now we can't wait until Andrew is actually here so he can come with us to the family gatherings.
Well, seeing as how Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I going to share a few things I'm thankful for.
- OBVIOUSLY ROB! He drives me crazy, but I love him. I'm not sure who or where I would be without him.
- MY JOB! I hate it on a regular basis. But because of my job I'm able to make money and we are able to pay our bills and put food on the table (even though we never eat at a table).
- MY NEW EYES! This past week I was finally able to afford LASIK. Thanks to a little bit of help from my parents too!
- MY FAMILY! I'm thankful to have parents who still want to do whatever they can to help me. And I'm thankful have great in laws. I thankful my brother, sister in law and the extremely adorable boys that made me an aunt.
- BOOKS! You're crazy if you didn't think I was going to mention books. I'm thankful for being able to buy them and for the publishers and authors that send them to me.
I'm also thankful for: My puppies. Hulu Plus. Sons of Anarchy. Refresh Plus eye drops. Twitter! Music. Internet. My iPhone.
There are so many things to be thankful for.
I know I personally take a lot of things for granted in my life. I think we could all learn how to appreciate everything around us a little bit more.
What are you thankful for? I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Howdy folks! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Mine was pretty busy.
I worked for a few hours on Saturday.
Babysat the nephews on Sunday with the husband.
That's it really. I guess I lied when I said it was busy, but it sure felt busy.
Especially when you get up to babysit at 6:30am on a Sunday morning.
But I was able to finish two books this weekend.
Cinderella and the Sheikh and Unveiled.
Alright, Unveiled was more like a short story, but it was still great.
And I started Wither this morning, which I'm really excited about.
That was pretty much my weekend.
So, how was your weekend?
Well, it turns out that I have a very busy weekend planned.
A birthday party on Friday from four in the afternoon until who knows when.
Then Saturday I'm going to a movie and having lunch with my mom.
Then after that Rob and I are going to see Joey Diaz at The Comedy Spot. (I've never seen him, but Rob thinks he's funny so we are giving him a shot.)
I thought we had a quiet day at home on Sunday, but NOPE.
I forgot we are going to have dinner at Rob's aunt's house on Sunday because his cousin is going away for college next week. We'll probably be there all day.
This all means, I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I'M GOING TO READ. This is a big deal and it makes me a sad panda.

What are your plans for the weekend?
Speaking of Grayson, Hubs and I are actually babysitting the little guy tonight. I'm really looking forward to it. And I really love it that my Brother and SIL are having us babysit for them more often now.
First, Happy December!
Second, I am happy to announce that my SIL is pregnant! She is 11 weeks today. I am going to be an aunt... again! :)
Also, today is Hubs first day of his new job. For the next week and a half he will be in training, then he goes to his regular shift. It's definitely going to be different then what we are used to now.
Christmas is coming soon and that is insane. This year has flown by!
I should probably get back to work now. I'm still behind on stuff from last week. :(
1. Do you have any nicknames and if so how did it come about?
My brother started calling me Kater when I was little. I’m not sure were it came from or why he started calling me that, but it stuck. And now that’s what I’m called by everyone. My brother, mom, dad, brother’s long time best friend. My brother’s best friends kids and my nephew are actually being taught to call me Auntie Kater’s. I’m not sure how I feel about that.
2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings?
I have on older brother. He was born February 17, 1981. He is seven years older than me and we’ve never been really close. Which makes me sad.
3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other?
Everyone says Hubs looks and acts like Seth Rogan, especially with his beard. He hates when he gets the comment, but it’s probably the closest person.
4. What is currently your favorite song?
My favorite song hasn’t changed in awhile. It’s been Who Needs Air by The Classic Crime for awhile now. But a close second it My Best Friend or Unbroken by Tim McGraw.
5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?
Right now the money we are saving is for just in case. Hubs has been unemployed for almost seven months so all the money we have set aside is just in case my income isn’t enough. I would really love to be saving it up for something fun, like a vacation. But that’s just not going to happen right now.
Labels: family
- Friday we went to my "cousin-in-laws" graduation. He goes to a Christian school and I wasn't raised religious at all, so I was pretty much bored out of my mind. This Chaplain spoke for about 45 minutes and I didn't think it was going to end, but it finally did. CIL's graduating class was 16 people, no where near the size of my graduating class.
- After the graduation, we went to wedding reception for my MIL's friend. There was an open bar, which is always good news. Or potentially bad news. Hubs had way too much, so I ended up having to drive home. So I had to stop drinking halfway through my fourth margarita. At the reception we saw my MIL get really drunk and she danced for like four hours. Really awkward!
- The Hubs and I finished watching the third season The IT Crowd on Netflix. That show is so dumb you can't help but laugh. It's a British comedy with a random Irish man. Love it!
- On Sunday, Hubs parents invited us out to dinner at Top Shelf. I got to meet one of Hubs uncles and aunts for the first time. His uncle looks a lot like Stone Cold Steve Austin, except his uncle is like a foot taller. Top Shelf has amazing margaritas. Strawberry blended margarita for me please!
- Hubs bought Red Dead Redemtion earlier this week. Over the weekend I watched him play it quite a bit and I even gave it a try. It's quite fun, but I suck at navigating on the Xbox remotes.
I shared this news on Twitter on Monday, but I haven't had a chance to write about it here. I wasn't sure what to say or how to word it. And I still don't.
My brother sent me a text telling us [Hubs and myself] that my SIL had miscarried and it was confirmed by the doctor that day.
My heart broke. It ached for them.
Once I received the text message I read it to Hubs and I tried my best to hold back the tears. That baby is my niece or nephew. It's my family. My blood. And knowing I'll never see or meet them breaks my heart.
I can't even imagine what they're going though.
As far as I know, this is the first miscarriage that my brother and SIL have gone through. I don't know how they're handling it but I told them we're here for them and we'll keep them in our thoughts.
My brother and SIL have never been open with their infertility with me. Or my parents for that matter. And I'm not sure why. I know people open up at their own pace, but we want to be there for them.
I'm not sure when or if they'll ever open up to us about it but I'll just keep reassuring them that we're here for them whenever they need us.
- We went to TGI Friday's on Friday night with Hubs mom, sister, aunt, two cousins, one cousins girlfriend. One cousin had a baseball game on our side of town earlier. His aunt bought me a strawberry margarita and Hubs a beer. (Which is totally unlike her, she doesn't even allow beer in her house during a holiday dinner.)
- Saturday I was supposed to go to a baby shower, but my brother and SIL invited us over for a BBQ/swim party for my nephew the same time the shower was.
- We found out that my SIL is pregnant with their second child via FET.
- We went to a roller skating rink on Saturday night with some friend and family, but I was too big of a chicken to actually go out on the rink. I didn't want to fall on my bum. Hubs only went around the rink once, so I didn't feel too bad about not going at all.
- Sunday we spent all day at home; just relaxing and hanging out. My kind of Sunday. I did have to do a few household duties, those weren't fun though.
How was your weekend? What did you do?
