The Perfect Homemade Frozen Margarita

I found this great recipe for a frozen margarita.  So I wanted to share.

The frozen concentrate that I bought was 12 ounces, so I just upped all the ingredients.  Also, I couldn't find a strawberry concentrate so I bought pink lemonade and fruit punch.  The one I used last night was pink lemonade, quite tasty! I plan on getting pineapple next time.

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 ounces strawberries, frozen (fresh or prepackaged)
  • 5 ounces strawberry juice concentrate, frozen (or other flavor mixture as desired)
  • Ice
  • 5 ounces white or gold tequila
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • Powdered sugar or salt
  • Wedge of lime
Instructions:
  1. Add frozen ingredients to a blender. This includes 5 ounces of frozen strawberries, 5 ounces of strawberry (or other as chosen) juice concentrate and a handful of ice. I added my 12 ounces of concentrate along with a ton of strawberries. I love strawberries, so I don't think I could have too many.
  2. Pour in the liquor--5 ounces of white or gold tequila and 2 ounces of triple sec. I added 5 double shots of tequila and 2 and a half of triple sec.
  3. Put the top on the blender and "puree." If your blender does not have this option, simply blend on high until the mixture reaches a slushy consistency. Set aside for a minute.
  4. Take a margarita glass and trace the rim with a wedge of lime.
  5. Pour powdered sugar or salt (depending on whether you prefer sweet or salty) out on a paper plate or paper towel until it forms a thin layer.
  6. Turn the glasses over into the mixture so that the rims touch the salt or sugar. Pick them each up one at a time at tap them to remove the excess, then turn them right-side up.
  7. Pour your blended margarita into the glass carefully, being careful not to hit the sides and remove the salt or sugar.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
I skipped the lime and salt/sugar step.  I was drinking with a straw, so I didn't need either.  Next time I might try it though.  I've never had it with powdered sugar though.

My Favorite Color Is Dirt

This little guy makes me smile.
My nephew, Grayson (11 months).

I work at a law firm in downtown Phoenix, AZ.  I work Monday through Friday and everyday I cover the receptionists lunch breaks from 1-2 pm.  It's not technically my job.  I was covering for a girl that went on maternity leave... but she never came back.  So I've been stuck doing it.

I generally don't get interesting or funny phone calls.  Just annoying ones.  But the other day I got a phone call that was just too funny that I had to share.

Me: "Thank you for calling Law Offices. How may I help you?"

Person on the phone: "Hi, how much are your iced coffees?"

Me: "Ummm... this is a law firm."

Person on the phone: "Oh, I thought this was a McDonald's."

*hangs up*

I don't know if that person was serious or prank calling, but it was quite funny.

Tell me about a funny call you received.

Tattoo Thursday

Welcome to the ninth round of Tattoo Tuesday.  This week it's on a Thursday because I wanted to post about my graduation on Tuesday.

Get caught up: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth.

I updated last weeks Tattoo Tuesday because I forgot to include something.  Go!

<3; Location: inside of right wrist; Age 19

Simply, I got this tattoo for Hubs.  I got it in August of 2007, only a month and a half after dating.  I was in love and I wanted to show Hubs that.  He knew already though.  He has a matching one that he got a year or so prior on his left calf.

I surprised him with it when he came home from Virginia after his grandmother's funeral.  He was completely surprised.

People thought I was crazy, specifically a close friend at the time.  She told me I would regret it.  I figured that it wasn't as bad as getting his name tattooed on me.  To this day, I haven't regreted this tattoo.

Wordless Wednesday

I want to go here...

Looks like Hubs and I might be planning a trip soon.

As Our Lives Change... [Graduation Day]

Today marks the four year anniversary of me graduating from high school.  Which is insane.  I don't feel like I've done much, but in some ways I have.

I'm not quite sure what I was doing.
  • I've been working at the same job since right before graduation.  I may not love my job, but it's definitely stable.
  • I fell in love and married a wonderful man who can sometimes be a gigantic pain in the ass. :)
  • I moved out, not on my own, but in with Hubs.
  • We adopted multiple animals; two dogs and three cats.
  • Hubs and I bought a house.
  • I've gotten many, many tattoos.  I don't think that's considered an accomplishment though.
  • I took some community college classes.
  • I've surprisingly kept this blog up and running for a year.
  • Traveled to; Vegas for my very first time, California a few times and Hawaii with my parents and Hubs.
My cake!

And I'm going to leave you with this...

Prom 2006; that's the old best friend Charlene I told you about.
I kind of look like Cinderella with the poofy blue dress.

I haven't accimplished much.  What have you accomplished since graduation?

Holy Sweet Margarita [Weekend Update]

  • Friday we went to my "cousin-in-laws" graduation.  He goes to a Christian school and I wasn't raised religious at all, so I was pretty much bored out of my mind.  This Chaplain spoke for about 45 minutes and I didn't think it was going to end, but it finally did.  CIL's graduating class was 16 people, no where near the size of my graduating class.
  • After the graduation, we went to wedding reception for my MIL's friend.  There was an open bar, which is always good news.  Or potentially bad news.  Hubs had way too much, so I ended up having to drive home.  So I had to stop drinking halfway through my fourth margarita.  At the reception we saw my MIL get really drunk and she danced for like four hours.  Really awkward!

  • The Hubs and I finished watching the third season The IT Crowd on Netflix.  That show is so dumb you can't help but laugh.  It's a British comedy with a random Irish man.  Love it!

  • On Sunday, Hubs parents invited us out to dinner at Top Shelf.  I got to meet one of Hubs uncles and aunts for the first time.  His uncle looks a lot like Stone Cold Steve Austin, except his uncle is like a foot taller.  Top Shelf has amazing margaritas.  Strawberry blended margarita for me please!
  • Hubs bought Red Dead Redemtion earlier this week.  Over the weekend I watched him play it quite a bit and I even gave it a try.  It's quite fun, but I suck at navigating on the Xbox remotes.
How was your weekend? What did you do?

Grab a Book and Read Wednesday

Like that title?  I think it's pretty clever. ;)

Talk of the Town by Lisa Wingate: This is a free book that I got from Amazon for my Kindle.  I adored this book.  It took me awhile to get into it and it also took me awhile to finish it.  But it was adorable.  Very funny and cute.

Give Me Fever by Niobia Bryant: Yet another free book from Amazon.  I bet that doesn't surprise you.  I didn't really know what to expect when I started this book.  It ended up turning into an almost erotica type book.  I really liked it and I flew right through it.  Took me about a day and a half to finish it.

Heat of Passion: An Out of Uniform Story by Elle Kennedy: Another free book (which is actually still free, just in case you have a Kindle).  It's a very short book, which made it a really quick read.  I always love a trashy romance novel with a happy ending and that's exactly what I got.

Currently reading:

Just Sex by Susan Kay Law:  Surprisingly not a free book, but it was cheap!  Only $2.35 and it's quite long.  Just started it Monday on the way home from work.  It's about a man that was caught cheating on his wife and he tells his wife it was just about sex.  He then tries to tell his wife to have an affair to realize that it's just about sex.  Should be interesting!

What I want to read next:

I'm really looking forward to reading Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris.  I just have to wait until my mother finishes reading it first, since she's the one that actually bought it!  Looks like I won't get this until my next week.  My mom didn't finish it before they left for Texas. :(

Hubs really wants me to start reading this series he's reading.  The first one is Enemies: Foreign and Domestic by Matthew Bracken.  He's currently on the second book; Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista.  I might give them a try after I read the latest Sookie book.  I just wish I could buy them for my Kindle.

Tell me about a book you've read recently. What are you reading now?

Tattoo Tuesday

Welcome to the eighth round of Tattoo Tuesday (or Thursday, depending on how I'm feeling that week).

If you've missed the others: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.

Isn't my dad a great photographer? ;)

Who Needs Air; Location: right forearm; Age: 18

The story for this tattoo it short and sweet.  It's the title of my favorite song by one of my favorite bands.  If you know who they were before you read this, then you're awesome!  I'm attaching the song so you'll get to hear how wonderful it is.  It's alright if you don't like it because I do. :)

UPDATED!

My tattoo appeared in the May 2008 issue of Flash, a tattoo magazine.  When I went to Six Flags almost two years ago and while we were there a random girl noticed this tattoo when we were waiting in line for one of the coasters.  It was so weird!

I Lead A Boring Life [Weekend Update]

I realized I haven't really posted in over a week.  I'm not sure why.  I've felt like writing, but when I try nothing worth while even comes out.  So I give up.  What do you do when you have writers block or get into a funk when it comes to your blog?

I should really look at those writing books I purchased from Amazon to help me blog.  [1. No One Cares What You Had for Lunch: 100 Ideas for Your Blog by Margaret Mason and 2. The Write-Brain Workbook: 366 Exercises to Liberate Your Writing by Bonnie Neubauer]

Anyways, back to the weekend.

  • Friday after work, Hubs and I took a 2-3 hour nap then woke up and went to dinner at Marie Callender's.  It wasn't as great as I was hoping.  Plus, I was really craving a grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup.
  • Saturday afternoon was spent on the couch watching eight episodes of The Vampire Diaries.  Um... INSANE!  I really hope it will be back for another season.  I desperately want to know what happens!
  • We went to see the championship game for the Arizona Roller Derby.  It was between the Bad News Beaters and the Brawlarinas.  The Bad News Beaters ended up winning.  [139-109]
  • At the Roller Derby you can buy tickets for drawings that they have.  Well, my dad ended up winning the final drawing.  His gift bag had two shirts, a hat, some stickers, a pin AND a $50 gift card to a tattoo shop.  Awesome!  My dad gave one of the shirts to me and the other shirt and the hat to Hubs.  Thanks, Popsicle!
  • Hubs and I ended up seeing Letters to Juliet on Sunday.  I thought the story was adorable.  But the outfits that they put Amanda Seyfried in were awful, mainly the dresses.  Apparently the clothing department didn't like her.
Those are the highlights.  The rest of the weekend was spent; on the couch watching television, on the computer or sleeping.  We also went to Walmart after the movie, but that's not really important.  We just picked up some milk, cheese and ya know... four bottles of wine.

What did you do this weekend?

Hello World

Seems I've been gone for awhile. Sad!  I hate it when that happens.

I've been so sleepy lately.  I was hoping it was from being pregnant, but it turns out that wasn't the case.  Seems AF is on her way into town today.

If an awesome case of the stomach flu wasn't enough.  I'll spare you the details, but it wasn't fun.  AF had to join in on all the fun. Bitch!

I hope everyone is doing well.  I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things here on my blog.

Tattoo Tuesday [On A Thursday]

Welcome to the seventh round of Tattoo Tuesday.  This week it's on Thursday though.  I apologize for that, but Tuesday I was so tired and blogging wasn't happening.  Enjoy!

If you've missed the others: first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth.

FYI: These are awful pictures.  I'll have Hubs take better ones when I get home with a nice camera, not my crap iPhone one.

Pin-Up [Charlie]; Location: upper left arm; Age: 18

I don't have a picture of the original pin-up.  But we found her picture in a huge book full of pin-up magazine covers.

I absolutely adore pin-up models.  They're gorgeous, sexy and full of confidence.  Something I've always wished I've had.  I thought about trying out for Suicide Girls (WARNING: link not safe for work. Sorry Kate!) to be a more present day pin-up.  I actually submitted an application and got accepted.  The next step was to send them a set, but I just couldn't get up the nerve to do it.

I'm not 100% happy with Charlie, there are a few things I wish I could change, but I still love her.

I plan on getting another pin-up model eventually.  Not sure when, but I know I either want to get it on the side of my calf or thigh.  For the next one I plan on doing more research and finding one that can represent me in a pin-up form.

How did Charlie get her name?  It's a variation of my best friend [at the times] name.  Her name is Charlene and a bunch of her family called her Charlie.  And my tattoo has similar features of hers, so we just decided to call her Charlie.  It's stuck ever since.  [Sadly, Charlene and I aren't friends anymore.  Shortly after I started dating Hubs, Charlene stopped speaking to me.  I've tried to contact her, but I get no response.  Anyways, that's another story.]

*Sorry I didn't get Tattoo Tuesday up this week.  I'll post it Thursday.

I Know I Have

I'm sure we've all read tons of posts on the 2ww (two week wait). I know I have.

I'm sure we've all heard from at least one pregnant or previously pregnant person that symptoms don't happen right away. I know I have.

I'm sure we all [over]analyzed every single twitch or difference in our bodies during that damn 2ww. I know I have.

I'm sure we've all looked at our chart counting how many DPO (days past ovulation) we were so we knew when we'd be able to take a pregnancy test. I know I have.

This damn 2ww is driving me insane. And I'm only 5-6 DPO!

Is there any chance that I could get my brain removed for about 5-7 days without any damage being done to it or myself? If you know of a way, please let me know. ASAP!

How do you cope during the 2ww?  I'm open to suggestions.
