I Brought You Flours

Stranger Than Fiction is one of my favorite movies and my favorite scene in the movie is where Will Ferrell brings Maggie Gyllenhaal a box of flours (because she's a baker).  They are such an odd combination, but they just work in this movie.

If you haven't seen Stranger Than Fiction, then I suggest you do!

"I brought you flours."

An IRS auditor (Will Farrell) suddenly finds himself the subject of
narration only he can hear: narration that begins to affect his entire life,
from his work, to his love-interest (Maggie Gyllenhaal), to his death.

What's your favorite movie/scene?

P.S. Don't forget you can mail me a birthday card!

Day 2 - Your Favorite Movie

If I had to pick one, it would have to be GREASE.

I love John Travolta.  I adore Olivia Newton-John.  So this has got to be it.  I know every single song.  Everytime I see GREASE on tv I can't help but watch it.  This is the one movie I can never get tired of.

Runner-ups are...

*sigh* Jake Ryan

I love [serious] Will Ferrell.

What's your favorite movie?

Precious

Well, I today I watched the movie Precious; which is based off a novel called Push by Sapphire.  I have not read Push, but I am thinking about it.

I'm not sure if any of you have seen this, but this poor girl is treated awful by everyone around her. Her mother, father, people at school, people on the street.  It really seems as if she has nowhere to turn and I feel awful for her; my heart went out to her.  Do you ever feel that way while watching a movie?  I know I do.  (I felt the same way for Michael Oher (Big Mike) in The Blind Side; which I also watched today.  Great movie, watch it!)

I absolutely could not understand the way Precious's mother treated her!  The things she yelled were just awful!  She threw things at her; glass jars, swung a pan at her head, a flower pot at her back and even tried dropping a television on her and her newborn babys head!

I should have gotten an abortion.  You're worthless.  I knew right when the doctor handed you to me that you were worthless.  You're fat.  You're so fucking stupid.

Her mother even said something along the lines of: You fucked my man and had kids with him, how dare you!  The man that Precious so called fucked was her own father.  Her flesh and blood.  The man raped her.  And he had been since she was three years old.  Her mother knew all along and did nothing to stop it.  I don't understand how something goes on like that and you do nothing!

Her mother didn't care about her going to school to get an education.  All she wanted her for was her welfare check.  Precious's mother used her own mother and granddaughter as a reason to get more money from welfare.

This sounds like something to should be added into Busted Kate's categoy of "And Yet THESE People Can Procreate".  I will never be like this woman. EVER.

The Rocker

I am not even going to lie, I loved this movie. But I do LOVE Rainn Wilson. He was so weird, like always. He was totally stuck in the 80's and had one of the best mullets I've ever seen. If you love funny movies, watch this.

I watched Ira & Abby yesterday. I had to stop it 20 minutes until the end to go to dinner, but once I got home I finished it. It's definitely an interesting movie. I like how it ended, sort of. If you like weird movies, then you should definitely watch this.

Friends with Money

I just watched this. I liked it. I really like Jennifer Aniston in weird roles in movies that no one knows about. I hated her in Marley & Me, but I think she did really well in this one. And I've always like Joan Kusak. Now I'm going to watch Ira & Abby. I don't think I'll be able to finish it because Rob and I are going to dinner with some of his forum friends.

Slumdog Millionaire

Terrific movie. I highly recommend it.

Milk

Milk is such a good movie. I would highly recommend it. I did not know that the man that killed Harvey Milk was that man that tried to plead "The Twinkie Defense". Absolutely ridiculous. I didn't know James Franco was in the movie until I watched it. He was excellent in his role. Sean Penn was amazing as always. You should watch it!
