Burnin' Down The House

Last night, right as Hubs and I were getting ready to go to bed we heard sirens.  A lot of them.  And our dogs were in the backyard barking up a storm.  At first we just heard Police sirens so that didn't make me feel so safe.  So Hubs went into the bedroom to grab his gun and put on some flip flops on so he could take a look out back.  I put some flip flops on too, so I could tag along.

While walking back through our living room one of our windows was completely lit up by lights.  Red and blue lights.  Hubs said, "That sounds like a fire truck."  So, I pulled up the blinds and sure enough there was a firetruck parked right next to the wall on the side of our house.

So, we went out back.  Hubs with his gun in tow and me following behind him.  And this is the first thing we see when we walk outside...

A HOUSE ON FIRE!  I'm pretty sure this is the closest I've been to a burning house.  And this one was practically in my backyard.

Apparently it was a good way to get the neighborhood together.

That's how close is was. Literally right out our back door.

I tried to get the firemen. Damn their reflective gear!

Sorry the photos are blurry. I had to turn off flash and that makes the pictures really blurry, but you get the point. THE HOUSE WAS ON FIRE!

Oh my! I hope everyone was okay and that they had insurance. How terrible!

I had something similar happen but a car exploded across from my house. I could stand in my living room and feel the heat on the windows. It was TERRIFYING!

YIKES - that's super scary. We had down the building from us (we are in townhomes) a couple years ago. Super scary.

Scary.. I've never had an actual house burn down near me, but I live in So Cal.. so I've been too close for comfort to a couple wildfires. One was 5 miles away from my house.. freakin' scary!

Holy crap! I don't think that I have ever been that close to a burning building before. Did everyone make it out okay?

So scary! So hubby had a gun and you had a camera? Were you both planning to shoot someone? :-)

Scary stuff! My parents' neighbor's house caught on fire last summer. The fire started at a house that was one house down from theirs. The fire then spread to the house that was next door to my parents. Luckily, my parents house was spared but the two neighbors lost their homes. In a weird twist to the whole house fire story... the firefighters had to break the door down at the house where the fire originated. When they pulled the neighbor out, he was dressed in nothing but a woman's pink thong. True story. Can you say craziness? It just confirmed everyone's suspicions that there was something wrong with him. Oh and he was also a hoarder.
Sorry for the super long comment. I felt like sharing. lol Thanks for stopping by earlier today Kaitlin. Hope your weekend is off to a good start. See you again soon.

So scary! Marmot said houses in the Deep South burn easier than houses up north...which scares me to death, because my house burning down as been a recurrent nightmare for me for years!!
