The Adventures of Vegas

Yeah, yeah. I've been back from Vegas for awhile and I still haven't posted about it.  Get over it. ;) I was distracted with some other personal things, then it was our one year anniversay and then I was being a lazy butt.  So now, I think its time to let you know how my first time to Vegas went.

Wednesday

Hubs and I made it to Vegas around 10:00 on Wednesday morning.  We found the Planet Hollywood, the hotel we were staying at, right away, but parking was issue.  It took us about 15-20 minutes just to figure out where we were supposed to park for our hotel.  Once we finally found that we walked over to the hotel; and what a walk it was.  The hotel told us that our room wouldn't be ready until 1:00.  So we decided to walk around.

That was an awful idea.  Especially in flip flops.  The first thing that happened to us in Vegas was we got stopped by one of those guys trying to offer you free tickets to a show if you just go listen to a presentation.  He would not leave us alone.  Eventually he asked us for a $20 "deposit" and at the point we played the "we don't have any money on us" card.  We finally got out of there; it took awhile though.  After an hour of walking we got tired and realized we were hungry so we stopped at a little food court.  Hubs had Chipotle and I had Panda Express.  Both were super tasty!

We got back to the hotel around 12:00, hoping that our room would be ready.  And it was!  We were relieved, but were not looking forward to walking all the way back out to our car to get our luggage.  We went to our room first to rest for a bit then trekked all the way back to the car to get our stuff.

The rest of the day went as follows: casino action, Hubs won $300 from the Wheel of Fortune quarter slots, we went to dinner and paid way too much for cocktails [$9.50; that was the first and last time we did that on our stay in Vegas] and then some more slots.

In the middle of that I contacted Honey.  We had talked about meeting up in Vegas since we were both going to be there at the same time.  I wasn't sure if that was going to happen, but I was going to try!  We finally met up at Imperial Palace so Honey could play some roulette.  Afterwards, we watched the water show at the Bellagio; which was amazing.  Go see it!

Proof that we actually met! Us in front of the Bellagio.

Thursday

This was the day that we met up with our friends.  We were already up and gambling by the time they got there.

My "big ticket" voucher from the Monopoly penny slots.

We grabbed some Starbucks and hung out for a bit.  They went to check into their room.  After they freshened up they came downstairs for some lunch; we had already eaten already.  So we played some slots and pick up some drinks while they had lunch.

Keep in mind, it was only 11:30. ;)
I sent this picture to my mom and she said;
"You crazy kids. Having drinks before noon."

Hubs and I swore that after Wednesday we weren't going to do a bunch of walking around for no reason.  So what did we do on Thursday?  Walked around for no reason.  A lot more walking.  The exercise was nice.  But the aching feet, not so much.

I can't remember what else we did.  Two of our friends went to see a show, so we stayed back at the hotel.  Probably just gambling, grabbed some dinner.  Nothing too exciting.  More fun was to come the next night.

Friday

The day was pretty eventful.  We went to lunch at Hard Rock Cafe.  I got an amazing drink called the Fruitapalooza; I can taste it now.  So good!  After that Hubs, his friend Brandon and myself went back to the hotel to hang out while our other three friends walked some more.  We played some slots [we liked playing the slots, can you tell?] and hung out in the room a bit.

We also bought tickets to the Peep Show starring Holly Madison.  Which was conveniently located in our hotel.  Hubs and I bought a ticket for Brandon since we knew he wanted to see it as well.  [We knew he was short on cash since he has a baby and girlfriend back home.]  Another friend that was there, Jaime, also purchased a ticket later that day so she could tag a long with us.

This was the night I got drunk.  And I mean Drunk.  I rarely drink.  So I'm obviously going to be a light weight when it comes to drinking.  When I do drink it's a glass of wine [or two] or a cocktail at the bar.  But on Friday I had cherry Amp mixed with Hammer + Sickle vodka.  And I had some mimosas for the first time; courtesy of Jaime.  [Thank goodness for buy one get one free drink in the bar just outside out hotel.]

By the time we got to the show my head was already spinning and I couldn't keep any thoughts straight.  And I was annoying Hubs.  [Poor him, he was sober through the beginngin part of the night.]  The show was interesting; lots of boobs.  Holly Madison was in the show for like a total of 20 minutes.  Which isn't saying a lot since the show was about 90 minutes long.

After the show, we grabbed a quick bite to eat then headed back to the hotel room for some more drinking games.  I forgot to mention, that's how I got drunk before the show.  Kings Cup, oh how I thought I was going to hate it.  In fact, it was the opposite.

I would not feel this way in the morning.

Saturday

I woke up on Saturday morning with my head spinning and feeling like I was going to throw up.  What a way to start Saturday morning, right?  Not so much.  Hubs was still asleep, so I didn't want to wake him up.  I got out of bed and walked into the bathroom.  Unsure if I was going to throw up or not.  All I know was that I needed some water, pronto.

Saturday was spent with me walking around the room trying to decide if I was going to hurl.  I eventually did, twice. I felt better momentarily, but it would always come back.  Hubs graciously went down to the restaurant in our hotel because I wanted toast.  Only toast with butter.  As soon as he brought it back though the smells reminded me of how much I wanted to throw up.  But I powered through it and ate it.  Eventually it made me feel better.

The cleaning ladies came to knock on our door and told us they needed to clean.  So we told them to give us a few so we could get dressed and head downstairs.  This is not something I wanted to do.  I was looking forward to laying in bed, hopefully taking a nice long nap.  But nope, little miss cleaning lady had to ruin my day.

We went to the mall right outside our hotel for about 45 minutes.  We sat there and people watched.  It was interesting.  The variety of people is amazing.  I wish there would have been a way to take pictures of them.  After the 45 minutes, we walked back to our hotel room only to find that the cleaning ladies hadn't even been there yet.  I was a little annoyed, especially since I wasn't feeling well.

They finally came to clean our room so we had to go downstairs for a little while longer.  We had received "A-List" card at the beginning of our stay to use while we were playing on the slot machines.  You earned points for every time you played.  We decided to go to the A-List Cardholders counter to see if we'd won anything.  Turns out we were 10 points away from 2 complimentary tickets to the Spice Market Buffet.  So what did we do?  We wasted a few more dollars to earn those ten points to get our complimentary tickets.

I wasn't in the mood for buffet since just that morning I'd been puking, but I went anways and ate what I could.  Hubs definitely made the best of it.  He got a slice of prime rib everytime he got up from the table.  Afterwards the rest of our night was spent in the hotel room hanging out with our friends.

Sunday

We left Vegas.  And we were so ready for it!  I had a wonderful time, but I don't think we'll ever go back for that long again. Maybe one or two days, but it's so easy to get burnt out.

I sadly didn't take very many any photos.  Just a few with my iPhone.

By the way, she's a go-go dancer, not a stripper. Ha! ;)

Wordless Wednesday

On our to Vegas we I stopped to take pictures of the Hoover Dam.

I made Hubs pose for me. :)

This one is my favorite!

Trying To Look At The Bright Side

Well, as I tweeted this morning; AF showed up.  And early too.  I knew she was on her way though.  All her usual signs were there: horrendous back pains, I was getting bitchier than usual and the free coffee I snagged at Dunkin' Donuts yesterday was giving me an upset stomach.  [Coffee only makes me sick around my period; retarded.]

Hubs knew that AF was coming around so he was trying to get me to look at the brightside of the situation.  Which was very sweet of him. :)  He's been a great support system lately.

--On our Vegas vacation I'll actually be able to drink the three feet [strawberry] margaritas I've been dreaming about.

--I'll be able to use the ovulation strips and Pre-Seed that I just bought over the weekend on Amazon.

--I can start doing the 30 Day Shred that I've been putting off for the past month (or two).  I honestly can't wait to do this.  I know it's going to kill me, but in a good way.  I've felt disgusting for months and it's finally time to do something about it.

--I started riding our recumbent bike. Last night I rode 5 miles and this morning I rode 2.5; it's definitely a start.

Do you try to look at the bright side?  I know it's hard to sometimes.

I just really liked this.

A Class Act... Really

On Friday night we went to dinner to meet this girl we're supposed to be going to Vegas with.  We met up with a few of Hubs friends (Travis, Brandon and Paulo) and the girl (Jamie, Travis' friend).  I'm going to be blunt; I don't like her.

Some real highlights of the evening:
  • She made no attempt to even talk to me.  I didn't try that hard either because we honestly didn't seem to have anything in common.
  • She mentioned doing drugs a number of times.
    • Example 1: Doing shrooms at Disneyland. Classy!
    • Example 2: Doing acid during the Zumanity Cirque du Soleil show.
  • She had a ring on her finger, but never mentioned a husband.
  • She had two names tattooed on her foot; Ella and Evan. But she never mentioned any kids.
  • She talked about going to a jacuzzi party (aka "sausage fest") that same evening.  Again, not mentioning her husband.
Hubs texted messaged his friend, Travis, the next day trying to get some information out him about this girl.  I want to know more about her especially if I'm going to have to spend any time with her in Vegas.  Turns out she IS married.  Why no mention of her husband ever is beond me.  And her husband is not going along with us to Vegas. I stumbled upon her Facebook the other night (and I really did stumble, I didn't even want to look for her).  But once I did find it I did have to do a little bit of stalking.   Turns out she DOES have kids.  Two like I though; Ella and Evan.

I just find it really odd that during the course of a few hours she failed to mention her husband and children all while flirting with Hubs friend.  That's real classy.  I'm not going to let her ruin my vacation though.  Hubs already knows how I feel about her so we probably won't be spending much time with her.  At least I hope so.  I'm just glad that we aren't driving together anymore.

I know I may be jumping to conclusions, but I always trust my gut and if I don't like her, then I don't like her. That's that.  Maybe she'll change my mind while we're there, but that's doubtful.
