Baby Shower / Birthday Party

On September 1st we had our baby shower which also happened to be my birthday.  I knew my birthday would be overshadowed by the baby shower and that was perfectly alright with me!  I'd rather celebrate Andrew!

The balloon baby! My MIL had him made with brown hair and blue eyes.
The husband and I with our diaper cake!
We surprisingly had a lot of people show up.  The people that showed were mainly friends of Rob's mom. The people that didn't show were actual friends of ours that I thought were going to be coming.  Luckily, I was able to see a few friends that I haven't seen in awhile and that was awesome.

I love presents like this! Some people are so creative!
We got quite a few things, but honestly, I'm not sure how many of them are going to be useful.  Since this is my MIL's first grand baby she went a little overboard buying stuff.  She did get us a brand new car seat which I am super thankful for!

The present haul! The furniture was also given to us but not at the shower.
I'm also having a work shower on Thursday.  Exciting! :)

I'm not sure what else we need besides a stroller, but we won't be using one right away so I'm not freaking out about not having that yet.  I'm not sure how many clothes we'll actually need, so I guess we'll see when we get to that point.

I think we're as ready as we're going to be.  I think...

Belly Updates

Well you've got to love Instagram! I love posting them there, then grabbing them to put on my blog or Facebook.  I used to use Picnik to edit photos, but they shut down.  :(  Is there a site that you like to use to edit photos?

It's really interesting seeing how much my belly has grown.  I can't tell the growth week by week.  Also, these are obviously not each week.  I kind of failed at doing that.  I wish I could go back and take pictures each week.

18 weeks 1 day
22 weeks 1 day
24 weeks
25 weeks 6 days
25 weeks 6 days
30 weeks 4 days
31 weeks
34 weeks 1 day
As you'll notice, I'm wearing a cardigan in almost all my photos.  You can thank my work for that.  Since I have tattoos I must cover them up.  Boo!

I cannot believe that I am mere weeks away from full term.

I cannot believe that in mere weeks I will have a baby.

I am excited and terrified.  I'm extremely nervous.  He'll rely on me.  I feel like I know nothing about babies.  I'm scared that I'm going to fuck it up.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way when they're about to have a baby.  I'm seriously not the only one, right? Ha!

Wow!

It's been a long time.  I'm a big failure.

BUT I plan on fixing that this weekend.

I want to overload you with pictures of the baby's room.

And some of the pictures of my belly that I've been Instagraming.

I really hope you're prepared for this! :)

Birthday Party Preggers

So today was the birthday party for my nephews. They were born 2 years and a week apart so they get to share birthday parties. It works out! Grayson is now 3 (well his birthday is really on the 30th) and Noah just turned 1 today!

Anyways, that wasn't the point of this post.

The point was that I'm pregnant.  You all knew that.  But what I mean is that I was pregnant at a family gathering and that's a completely new experience.

I spent so many family gatherings being the only woman that wasn't pregnant or didn't already have a child.  And I was envious of all the other women so being on the other side of things is just so new.

I actually had people come up to me and ask how I'm doing. And ask how Andrew is doing. And ask if we have a name picked.

These parties aren't huge, by any means, but it's so awesome to be able to join in on the baby excitement.  I'm very thankful!

Now we can't wait until Andrew is actually here so he can come with us to the family gatherings.

It's a...

BOY!

Hi, baby boy. <3
I could have posted this on Friday, but I was busy this weekend.

I did inform Twitter, though!

So, on Saturday I wanted to had to get some clothes for the baby. I mean, we finally know the sex! I just had to!

The "Most Eligible Bachelor" onesie is my favorite!
My parents also bought some clothes for the baby!

After the ultrasound, my MIL and SIL gave us a bag full of all this stuff!

More later. I just wanted to share these fun pictures! :)

Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is THE day!

Tomorrow is the anatomy scan.

Tomorrow we find out if our baby is a little boy or girl.

Tomorrow! I can't believe it!

Taken last week at 18 weeks 1 day.
Today I am 19 weeks pregnant.

I still can't believe I'm going to be a mom!

Happy (belated) Mother's Day!

Well, this was my first Mother's Day.  Which is just such a weird concept for me to grasp.  I still can't believe that in less than 5 months I'm going to be a mom to a tiny little human.

My fabulous husband bought me a necklace and wrote me a cute note. :)  He even sat with me to watch Fifteen and Pregnant.  Such an awful movie, by the way. But he stuck it out with me! I also got to pick whatever we ate, which wasn't much different than normal.  He's started to ask, "what does baby want to eat?"

I finally decided to splurge and buy a Doppler.  I found one on Craigslist for only $35 so I went for it.  We were able to pick it up on Sunday so on my first Mother's Day I was able to hear our baby's heartbeat for the first time.

It turned out to be a nice day. :) I hope everyone else had a great day too. Regardless of your situation.

Also, in NINE short (or long and excruciating, but trying to look on the bright side) we get to find out the gender of our baby! Absolute insanity!

17 Weeks!

Holy freakin' cow.  17 weeks!

On Monday I have an appointment with my midwife.  This time we should hear the heartbeat.  Last time it was still a little early, but we got to see the heartbeat the next day when we got an ultrasound.

In 15 days we find out the gender, hopefully!

I will admit going a bit crazy worrying that something is wrong, but that's just because I haven't seen the baby in over a month.  And in the beginning we got to see the baby three times very close together.

Anyways, I'll update more later. I should get to work!

Hi there!

I have a bad habit of popping in and posting then disappearing again.  I'd really like to fix that.  But things have been busy with us lately.

We recently moved in with my parents.  They've given us two rooms; one for us and one for the baby.  They even created a doorway to combine them.  We just got tile done in the baby's room yesterday.

Speaking of the baby, yesterday I hit 16 weeks!  I have an appointment with the birthing center on Monday.  They have an early pregnancy group where I'll get to meet with other pregnant ladies.  I plan on scheduling my gender ultrasound then too, which I know we are both super excited for!

Well that's it for right now. I'll try to get better about updating! Promise! :)

Surprise!

Well, I've been gone for a long time, haven't I?

There have been so many times I thought about coming by to write something, but then I'd forget. Or I'd just not know what to write.  Then somehow almost three months has passed.  HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?  Life gets in the way.

I have some big news blogger friends.  Some of you may know already, but some of you who don't frequent my Twitter often may not know.

I'M PREGNANT!

Front.

Profile.

Today I am 11 weeks and I still can't believe it!

Nephew #2

Hello, my name is Kaitlin and I'm a slacker! :)

Anyways, I announced my SIL's pregnancy in December on my blog.  And a few weeks ago we found out what she is having.

I'm going to have another newphew!  I'm so excited to meet him.

I can't wait to have two nephews to spoil now!

I'm looking forward to seeing if he looks similar to Grayson.  Or maybe they'll look completely different.  Either way, I'm excited!

Speaking of Grayson, Hubs and I are actually babysitting the little guy tonight.  I'm really looking forward to it.  And I really love it that my Brother and SIL are having us babysit for them more often now.

Wordful Wednesday

First, Happy December!

Second, I am happy to announce that my SIL is pregnant!  She is 11 weeks today.  I am going to be an aunt... again! :)

He looks totally different now.

My new niece or nephew.

Also, today is Hubs first day of his new job.  For the next week and a half he will be in training, then he goes to his regular shift.  It's definitely going to be different then what we are used to now.

Christmas is coming soon and that is insane.  This year has flown by!

I should probably get back to work now.  I'm still behind on stuff from last week. :(

Meeting Dr. Hope

On Friday I had an appointment with a new OB, Dr. Hope.  Some of you may have seen me freaking out on Twitter on Friday.  I've never been good at doctor's appointments.  Especially the ones where I have to take off all of my clothes.

Anyways, the appointment went really well.  I felt very comfortable and confident with Dr. Hope.  We went over our TTC history and a little family history.  Sadly, my mother hasn't been very open regarding her TTC history.  I just know it took them three years to get pregnant with my brother then another seven to get pregnant with me.  She also had an ectopic pregnancy in between.

I told him about the positive OPK that I got relatively early this month.  He thinks because of that that I might have a bit of a hormone issue.  Which he said would be quite simple to regulate with the right medications.

He was very open to putting me on meds right away as I'm very adamant about getting pregnant.  But he also suggested OPKing and having timed BD for another month or two, which is the route we've decided to go.  That way we know we are hitting the days right and his spermies are being saved up for the right time.  Then if that doesn't work then we will try medicine.  Before that though Hubs is going to get an SA, we just need to figure out where.

There is still the chance that I am pregnant now though.  I'm still keeping hope.  As of right now I am CD 28 and it's been 15 days since I got my + OPK.  I'm not positive what day I actually ovulated on.  So keep your fingers crossed!

Her Secrets Out

A friend/coworker of mine is about to tell our human resources manager and boss that she's pregnant. I'm very happy for her, but I'm not looking forward to the comments I'll be getting once more people find out about it.

This is the second baby she's had while working here. After her, there was another girl who had a baby. Then another girl had a baby. I am now the only younger married person at our work who hasn't had a baby or isn't pregnant.

During all three pregnancies I was asked a lot of questions and received tons of comments about when I'd be having one or trying for one.
"Now it's your turn!" "When are you going to have a baby?" You name it, they probably asked me. I'm not looking forward to it this time around, since we're actually trying.

I've been thinking about this for a few weeks. When these people start asking me questions or making comments how do I want to answer? Snarky? Vauge? Completely ignore them? Tell them it's none of their concern? Tell them that's rude to ask/say since they don't know my situation? (Just thought of that one this weekend.) I haven't decided yet. I spoke with Hubs about this and obviously he thinks I'm silly, but I can't help it.

I'm sure my reaction to any question will depend on the mood (or time of the month) I'm in. I'm really leaning towards snarky, because then maybe they won't bug me again.

I'm sure some of you have been in this situation. What did you do?

Hello World

Seems I've been gone for awhile. Sad!  I hate it when that happens.

I've been so sleepy lately.  I was hoping it was from being pregnant, but it turns out that wasn't the case.  Seems AF is on her way into town today.

If an awesome case of the stomach flu wasn't enough.  I'll spare you the details, but it wasn't fun.  AF had to join in on all the fun. Bitch!

I hope everyone is doing well.  I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things here on my blog.

I Know I Have

I'm sure we've all read tons of posts on the 2ww (two week wait). I know I have.

I'm sure we've all heard from at least one pregnant or previously pregnant person that symptoms don't happen right away. I know I have.

I'm sure we all [over]analyzed every single twitch or difference in our bodies during that damn 2ww. I know I have.

I'm sure we've all looked at our chart counting how many DPO (days past ovulation) we were so we knew when we'd be able to take a pregnancy test. I know I have.

This damn 2ww is driving me insane. And I'm only 5-6 DPO!

Is there any chance that I could get my brain removed for about 5-7 days without any damage being done to it or myself? If you know of a way, please let me know. ASAP!

How do you cope during the 2ww?  I'm open to suggestions.

I've been meaning to post the second part of this story for awhile.

Go here if you missed Part 1: The MIL.

My mom is very nosey, always has been.  I know she hears me at work talking about babies and what not.

So one day around Christmas time she asked me: "If you don't go to the doctor, how do you get your birth control pills?"

I don't need to go to the doctor to get birth control pills, especially when I have a prescription made out for a years worth.  She knows this.  She just wants to be nosey, like she always is.  And I wasn't going to lie to her about it.

So I told her: "I don't."

Her reponse: "Ohhhhh."

She then proceeded to tell me that the day I called my dad when our house was broken into he said, "She better not be calling me to tell me she's pregnant."  First of all, why would I tell him one of the most important things I'll ever have to tell him over the phone?  Second of all, what would be the big deal, pops?

So now the mother in law and mother know.  OOPS!  I'm not sure if they told the fathers.  I'm pretty sure my mom wouldn't tell my dad, but who knows.  Pretty soon everyone is going to know, and that was something we were trying to avoid.

I Must Get This Off My Chest

I'm throwing a pity party for one!

I had a mini breakdown last night.  These thoughts have been bouncing around in my head for the last week or two, but last night they finally just got to me.

A somewhat close friend of mine (she's also a coworker, and she also reads my blog occasionally) is going to start trying to conceive (TTC) soon.  And by soon I mean next month.  That freaks me out... I don't know if that's the words I want to use, but that's what comes to mind right now.  She already has one little boy (he turns a year old on February 2nd) and he was an accident.  I just feel like she's going to get pregnant before me.  I think things are going to be so simple for her, since she didn't even have to try the first time around.

I'm throwing a pity party in my head and feeling awful about it.  I want her to be able to get pregnant and have another baby.  But we started six months ago and I'm not pregnant yet.  It's not a competition or anything.  I just want it to be my chance, my time to get pregnant.

She brings up the topic of babies all the time and sometimes I just don't want to talk about it.  It's just one of the constant things going on in my brain, so I don't want to talk about it all the time too.  I don't know how much that makes sense, but to me it does.  It's just tough, I know I haven't been trying very long, but as months keep passing the more I realize I want a baby.  I just wonder when it's going to be my turn.

When The Mothers Found Out: Part 1: My MIL

I know my mom would be upset to know that my mother-in-law found out first, but it wasn't on purpose.  Believe me! We've been keeping it a secret because it's our business and haven't wanted to be bugged constantly with questions. You are probably wondering what I'm talking about.  Well, it's BIRTH CONTROL.  Surprise, surprise.

Let me tell you the story...

We were at my in-laws house on the 14th of December baking Christmas cookies with the family.  Their next door neighbor came over with her newborn baby about halfway into the evening.  When she got there my MIL raced over to the baby and grabbed her from the neighbor.  Then she proceeded to show the baby off to everyone in the room.  My Hubs and I started joking around and saying, "You look comfortable over there, Grandma."

Eventually the topic of me being off the pill came up.  She asked me across the room if I was still taking birth control.  And I just couldn't hide the answer on my face.  I know I turned bright red and Hubs wasn't there to back me up.  As soon as she saw my face though she just KNEW it.  All she said was, "ohhhh you're not!"  The tone of her voice seemed almost worried.

But on Christmas day we were at their house exchanging gifts and my MIL looks at me and says, "I have something to give you, but I'm not sure if you're going to get offended."  So obviously once she said that I had to know what she was talking about.  She took me into the garage and told me she had an extra pregnancy test that she wanted to give me.  Of course I wasn't going to complain about a free pregnancy test.

(You man be wondering why she had a spare test.  She was having some issues a few months ago about her intestines and her friends thought she might be pregnant.  So they made her test and it came out negative.)

So in the span of a week she obviously became okay with the idea of me being off the pill.  So okay that she gave me a pregnancy test.

I Should Make Some of These -- NY Resolutions

Most of this layout has been "borrowed" from Honey at The Honey B. Blog.

Like almost everyone else in the world, I set New Year's resolutions and never keep them.  This year though, is a different story [I'm hoping].  There are a few items on my list that I'd really like to achieve this year.  Such as, cutting fast food and [most] caffeine.

Losing Weight!  That's definitely the first thing on my list this year.  Since meeting Hubs I've been very careless with the way I've treated my body.  I don't pay much attention to what I'm putting in it.  And I never do anything to keep those calories from turning into fat on my body.  What am I talking about?  It hasn't been since I've met Hubs.  I've always been this way.
  • I purchased The Biggest Loser: The Workout - Weight Loss Yoga as an aid to help me lose the weight.  My goal is to do one of the DVD workouts at least 3 times a week.
  • Honey from The Honey B. Blog and I have been talking about a diet that's really worked for her.  So I decided to give it a try it out this year to see how it works for me.  I know it's not about a diet, then it is a lifestyle change.  But there were no major lifestyle changes for me this year like I had planned.  So, I want to try this out as a kickstart to my new lifestyle change.  My goal is to stick to this until I get off the weight I want to lose, then maintain.

Cutting the Caffeine and Fast Food!  My caffeine and fast food intake has been crazy my entire life.  I've never had someone there telling me not to drink soda or telling me to watch what I eat, so I've had whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.  So every morning I've had some coffee or a Dr Pepper to wake me up, rather then just letting my body wake itself up.  I know going cold turkey is not the best option.  The migraines I get are insane and I just got right back to it anyways.  My goal is to cut back to at least 200 mg a day and to stop eating fast food.

Charting My Temps!  I recently purchased a basal body thermometer from Fairhaven Health so I could start charting my temps.  I also have The Fertility Journal to write all my info down in throughout my cycle.  I'm not sure how charting it going to go for me because in the morning the first thing I like to do when I get up is go to the bathroom and potty, so it's going to be an adjustment.  I'm thinking about setting my alarm for 5 minutes early to get the temping in early.  My goal is to start temping every morning.

Getting Pregnant!  This is my ultimate goal this year.  I realize I'm still young, but I started feeling the need to be a mommy.  I know most of my friends cringe at the idea of having a baby right now.  For me, it feels right.  My goal is to get pregnant this year.

Well there you have it.  What are your New Year's resolutions?
