Random Fact: Sun-Sneezer

For as long as I can remember everytime I've walked outside into the sun I've sneezed.  Everytime!  And it can get a little old.

I recently remembered to Google "why do I sneeze in the sun".  The answer: photic sneeze reflex also known as achoo syndrome.
"Photic sneeze reflex is an autosomal dominant hereditary trait which causes sneezing (due to naso-ocular reflex) when suddenly exposed to bright light, possibly many times consecutively. The condition affects 18-35% of the human population." [via]
My mom always told me there was a name for what I had, but I never remembered to look it up until just the other day.  Now I feel better knowing what it's called so when someone asks or makes a comment then I can tell them why I sneeze.

"The number of successive sneezes is usually 2 or 3, but can be up to about 40." [via] Luckily, I only sneeze 2 or 3 times everytime. I don't know what I would do if it was more than that.

Another random fact: everytime I sneeze I get the goosebumps.  Hubs thinks I'm the weirdest person ever.  Which I have to admit, I am quite weird.

Anyone else have the achoo syndrome or am I alone here?  Share a random fact about yourself with me!

Burnin' Down The House

Last night, right as Hubs and I were getting ready to go to bed we heard sirens.  A lot of them.  And our dogs were in the backyard barking up a storm.  At first we just heard Police sirens so that didn't make me feel so safe.  So Hubs went into the bedroom to grab his gun and put on some flip flops on so he could take a look out back.  I put some flip flops on too, so I could tag along.

While walking back through our living room one of our windows was completely lit up by lights.  Red and blue lights.  Hubs said, "That sounds like a fire truck."  So, I pulled up the blinds and sure enough there was a firetruck parked right next to the wall on the side of our house.

So, we went out back.  Hubs with his gun in tow and me following behind him.  And this is the first thing we see when we walk outside...

A HOUSE ON FIRE!  I'm pretty sure this is the closest I've been to a burning house.  And this one was practically in my backyard.

Apparently it was a good way to get the neighborhood together.

That's how close is was. Literally right out our back door.

I tried to get the firemen. Damn their reflective gear!

Sorry the photos are blurry. I had to turn off flash and that makes the pictures really blurry, but you get the point. THE HOUSE WAS ON FIRE!
